“Rose-colored” glasses is a saying to describe an optimistic individual. If you were to wear a pair of“glasses”, what would they be like? Would they be protective goggles, unwavering in their permanence? Or a pair of delicate, thin-rimmed spectacles? Perhaps you are faceted, a kaleidoscope of fragmented views. We all have our own glasses. We exist as a culmination of circumstances and influences. Our“glasses” can block out or hone in on certain points; they can emphasize one color while dulling others. There is not just one reality, but realities we live and form as encapsulations of our worldview and biases. While we cannot reach true impartiality, we can attempt to identify and grasp our own biases — visualizing and containing them with something like glasses. Perhaps then we will start to see eye to eye.
